How this calculator works

This calculator handles the four most common commission components: an upfront commission as a percentage of deal value, a rep-vs-house split, a one-off bonus on top, and an optional monthly residual paid out over a number of months. A manager override percentage is taken off the top before the rep/house split, the way most ISO and field sales programmes structure it.

If your real-world plan has tiered thresholds, clawback rules or multiple bonus tiers, this calculator gives you a directional answer. Closerr's full commission engine handles all of those cases with full audit trail and rep visibility.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate sales commission?

Sales commission is calculated as deal value × commission rate, sometimes adjusted by tier thresholds, splits with other team members and recurring rates for residual income. The calculator above handles tiered rates, splits and residual months on top of an upfront commission.

What is residual commission?

An ongoing monthly commission paid for as long as a customer or merchant stays active. Common in merchant services, telecoms and SaaS reseller channels. Residual income compounds — the longer your book grows, the larger the monthly residual becomes.

What is a commission split?

A split divides a single deal's commission between multiple parties — typically a closing rep, a sales manager and the company. Common splits are 70/30, 60/40 or 50/50 between rep and house, with a manager override of 5–10% on top.

What is a manager override?

A manager override is a percentage of the commission paid to the closing rep's manager, on top of the rep's earning. Override is typically taken from the gross commission before the rep/house split, although every plan models it slightly differently.

Does Closerr handle complex commission plans?
